If you want to continue playing with mods that have been obsoleted, you need to go into data/mods and find the specific folder for the mod you want to edit, edit modinfo.json, and just remove the line for "Obsolete: true" The reasons they are obsolete is probably because they are no longer maintained by anybody, and nobody has stepped up trying to keep them up to date. Some mods are listed as obsolete in the game, and cannot be used while playing.
